Common Questions about Database Proxy

Which regions support database proxy?

Currently, the domestic regions that support database proxy include Northern China 1, Northern China 2, Shanghai 2, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Taipei. Foreign regions include Singapore, Los Angeles, and London. If you have other regional needs, please contact us.

Why is the QPS of a certain database replica instance always 0 after using the database proxy?

The database proxy will determine whether SQL routing to the node based on the status of the database replica instance. When the master-slave delay of the database is too large or there is a problem with the database status, the database proxy will not route SQL to the replica.
In addition, new instances by default will not be added to the proxy's weight, you need to manually add the instance to the proxy's weight on the console.

After connecting to the proxy, why don't the wait_timeout and interactive_timeout of the database take effect?

The default connection timeout of the database proxy is 15 minutes. If your long connection does not execute any SQL statement within 15 minutes, the database proxy will disconnect the long connection.

How do programs access the database proxy

The database proxy is in the same VPC segment as the primary instance of the database by default. You can access the database proxy where you are allowed to access the primary instance of the database
The database proxy provides a ULB IP address by default, and the program can access the database proxy through the ULB IP address just like using MySQL.

Is there a maximum connection limit for the database proxy

You can set the maximum number of connections to the proxy on the console. The default maximum number of connections is 2000.
