Cluster Log
Use UK8S log plugin feature

Using UK8S Log Plugin Function

UK8S introduced a new plugin function aimed at quickly deploying the related plugins needed by the UK8S cluster.

Supported UK8S version: 1.14.6 and later (created after September 17, 2019)

The installation of the ELK plug-in requires mounting of UDisk. For the regions supported by UK8S to mount UDisk, please refer to the link

1. ELK Log Plugin

Plugin-Log ELK is a one-stop log service built by UK8S based on ELK, which includes several components such as Elasticsearch (optional), Logstash, Filebeat, and Kibana (optional), implementing the automatic collection, filtering, and storage of logs within the cluster, and also includes a built-in log retrieval feature.

For an introduction to ELK components, please refer to ELK log solution

After entering the cluster, users can opt to install a complete set of ELK components for the cluster, or install components such as Filebeat related to the user's UES. The complete ELK components deployed through the UK8S plugin can be viewed and unified on the SurferCloud page for log queries.

2. Install the Complete ELK Log Component

Step 1. In the plugin page, the user clicks to install the plugin and selects full installation of ELK. During the installation, the user may select from the following options:

Optional items:

  • Elasticsearch

Here we choose to create a new ES in the UK8S cluster, and choosing to associate involves associating an external ES (UES). By default, we install within the cluster.

  • Kibana

Users can install Kibana as needed. After installation, the externally exposed Kibana can be viewed in the application for log viewing, providing EIP and Ingress for external exposure. However, if the Ingress Controller service has not been installed in the cluster, the Ingress method cannot provide external access. Users can also choose not to install and view logs on the SurferCloud console. By default, we choose to install.

Note: Please ensure that there are more than 3 nodes in the cluster, and that the spare resources of a single node are larger than 4C8G, to have enough resources to install the ELK service.

Step 2. Click install, enter the installation page, you can view the installation status through mouse hover, or go to workload-application to check the installation status. The installation may last about 10 minutes.

Step 3. After the installation is complete, you can see the log dashboard on the console, view the health status of the components, and statistical information on the logs.

Step 4. Click on the log query tab page to perform log query, providing specific container selection, time period, and keywords for the search, facilitating users to query the logs.

3. Associate UES Installation

  1. UES is a highly available Elasticsearch cluster provided by SurferCloud. Please create the UES service before using UK8S to associate UES. For details, please refer to the UES product document. Here we have established a UES cluster, in the node information of the UES cluster details, select any node, record the node IP address.

  2. In the plugin page, the user clicks to install the plugin and chooses to associate the UES installation of ELK. During the installation, users can select options.

Note: The UES needs to be in the same subnet as the UK8S cluster, and the user needs to select the specific subnet during installation, and enter the IP address of the selected node in step 1 plus the port number 9200.

  1. After installation, you can perform internal log queries in UK8S, and for other log queries of the UES cluster, please go to the Kibana provided by the UES cluster.
